Globaloria Class November 19, 2010 (Day before break)

So far i have completed the "Planning your game" and the team page stuff.

I hope to get the paper prototype completed after break and i would like to start the game itself not too long after i complete the paper prototype.

This game is going to be very hard to complete. The ideas that i have will work on the paper prototype but it is going to be a major challenge to actually create the game itself.

Mini Game Completed

The Mini Game Project is Over... The coding was actually very challenging for me but with the help of Mr. Allder everything got back on track. Now that the game is completed I feel proud that I have created my very first game. I really am looking forward to creating my own game now.

Globaloria: October 18, 2010

Today in Globaloria calss I worked on my minigame project and uploaded the files, for my minigame, onto my wiki page. I am very close to being done with the minigame project... The only reason I am still working on it is because my stage was in the wrong place and I had to redo everything from step 1. Anyway I'll have completed the minigame project by next class period.

Reading in Block 6

1.)   Solo Piano Concert Transcriptions
2.)   I read music 5 hours a day. Books etc. 15 min a day for recreational purposes.
3.)   Music/ Controversial Literature/ Fiction. "A Clockwork Orange", "The Shining", "The Orgin of Species" etc.
4.)   Reading is a neccesity in modern day culture. Reading is not only interesting in that it can transform your way of thinking, open your mind to new vocabulary words, and most importantly, expand your imagination. Also reading is used in just about everything that relates to life. Ex. School, debates, giving directions etc.

My Music Game

Working with flash is going to be really interesting. I personally use a software called Digidesign Pro Tools (not flash) at home in my music studio. When I first got Pro Tools it was very overwhelming. But, with a lot of time spent with the software alone, I started learning keyboard shortcuts etc.  In other words it is going to take some time to learn the software but once I do learn how to use flash I can use it and bend it to my own imagination.
The challenges that I will be confronted with while tackling this software will include: patience with the software (while learning how to use it), time (only because we have an hour and a half every other day), and other minor complications that arise.
I believe that once I have a solid understanding of what is going on within the software I will have hardly any problems. It is a matter of time until what I say starts to come into effect…

My Globaloria Music History Game

My game is music hitory oriented. I have the same kinds of ideas that I had in my previous post about my game design listed below…
Game Setting:
·         Where the artist, that I choose, lives (City)
·         Or the setting could be a house that has thousands upon thousands of Vinyl Records of the artists.

Main Idea of Game:

·         If the setting takes place in the city where the artist was born and composed their music, then it is your job, as the gamer, to find some kind of information, from either towns people or from the artist himself, regarding the music he composed or just background information about the artist.
·         If the setting is a house that has thousands upon thousands of Vinyl Records of the artists, then you need to find the record personally in the house and then read the info inside the sleeve.
What You Will Learn From My Game:
·         Regardless of which Game Setting I choose the gamer will learn information that most people do not know about that artist.
·         Also the gamer will learn which compositions that artist was known for. Personal information about artist etc.

Miles Davis: Bitches Brew 40th Anniversary

During the summer of 1969 Miles Davis, Bennie Maupin, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette, John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul and Dave Holland recorded one of the greatest albums of all time… The name of the album is Bitches Brew. Miles, along with the other artists, went into a studio and recorded this album in three days. Since the songs on this album are about 20-40 min. each Miles and the band recorded several takes with different sounds and different ways to voice chords etc. It is concidered to be the greatest selling Jazz album to this day.

My First Globaloria Blog

Hi, I'm Jon

What I want to accomplish in Globaloria is to create a game using Flash that is related to music. Here are some ideas:
                Game Setting:
·          Where the artist, that I choose, lives (City)
·         Or the setting could be a house that has thousands upon thousands of Vinyl Records of the artists.

Main Idea of Game:

·         If the setting takes place in the city where the artist was born and composed their music, then it is your job as the gamer to find some kind of information from either towns people or from the artist himself.
·         Personal information about artist etc.
Overall I believe this is going to be a fun experience. Creating a game about music is going to be fun and interesting as well partly because most people have no idea who the artist is or his major compositions.
